Devizes Community Area Partnership (DCAP) is formed from local people and representatives of public sector, voluntary and private organisations who have come together with a vision to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives in, works in or visits the Devizes Community Area.

The Devizes Community area includes the Parishes: All Cannings, Bishops Cannings, Bromham, Cheverell Magna, Cheverell Parva, Devizes, Easterton, Erlestoke, Etchilhampton, Market Lavington, Marston, Potterne, Roundway, Rowde, Stert, Urchfont, West Lavington, Worton.  This mirrors the same communities as are represented by the Devizes Area Board of Wiltshire Council.

The vision for the  Devizes Community Area is to form an integrated community of residents, businesses and interest groups, blending a living and working countryside with its service centre, the thriving market town of Devizes, and ensuring that all people have a good quality of life with access to the facilities they need.

Meetings of DCAP take place quarterly and all local people are welcome to attend.
The next meeting takes place on Wednesday 7th March 2012 at Browfort.

New non emergency number for Wiltshire Police

Wiltshire Police has changed its non emergency number to 101.

The 101 number is being introduced nationally in phases and on 19 September it was launched across forces in the South West, including Wiltshire.

Although 999 is a well recognised number to report emergencies, the 2010 British Crime Survey found that only half of the public knew which number to call if they wanted to speak to their local police about policing, non-urgent crime and anti-social behaviour.

WILTSHIRE SURVEY
If you live in Wiltshire and you want to help shape the future please take just a little time to complete the ‘What matters to you’ survey on the Wiltshire Council website. The survey one of the biggest ever done in the county is designed to give residents a real say on a range of topics that affect life where you live. From issues surrounding community safety to what the council spends its money on to what it’s like to live in Wiltshire all the questions are designed so that your opinion can be counted.  The results will be used by the council and its partners NHS Wiltshire, Wiltshire Fire and Rescue and Wiltshire Police to help develop policies which affect local communities.  Surveys can be completed on line as well as being available in libraries, council offices and leisure centres.

Live public online chat
Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Police Authority (WPA) are holding a live public online chat on Monday 23 January 2012.
Deputy Chief Constable Patrick Geenty, Assistant Chief Constable Mike Veale and WPA Chairman Chris Hoare will be online from 7pm - 8pm to answer questions from members of the public.
The live session will provide you with an opportunity to submit questions directly to Wiltshire Police Chief Officers and the WPA on any subject you may wish to raise.
It is also a chance for you to have your say on what the Force should be doing in the coming year so that it can consider this feedback when setting Force priorities.
Submitting a question is simple. Visit http://www.wiltshire.police.uk/  on the evening and follow the instructions. More information about the chat is also on the Force website
